OwnFone, a London based company, say we should expect to see their new Braille phone on sale shortly for just £60, an impressive feat! More impressive yet is how they designed it; both sides of the phone were created using a 3D printer which is also what helped them keep the costs down according to the manufacturer. By using 3D printing this also means that the front of the phone is completely customisable which is where the company have been marketing towards with customised phones for seniors and youths. Special note should be mentioned that for those that can’t read Braille they also have embossed lettered fronts to cover as much of the visibility impaired as possible.
OwnFone claim that this is the first ever Braille phone that is going to be available to buy, allowing the blind to instantly and easily communicate with any of their friends and family.
